Landscaping Stone: Granite Steps
Granite steps are a New England classic.
We offer two color selections: Stanstead Gray and Diamond Brown. Both are produced with a hand pitched rock face edge. Blue Rock can set your granite steps in place, once you have prepared the base.
Steps, platforms and filler pieces are 7 inches thick.
All steps are 13 inches wide. All platforms are 36 inches wide.
Preparing the base
We can set your granite steps in place once the base is prepared. The base must be level and set at the proper height, so the steps will reach the desired location relative to your door.
A gravel base must be at least 12 to 18 inches deep of crushed gravel or processed base. The gravel base should be compacted every 4 to 6 inches. The gravel pad should extend 6 inches beyond the steps on the front and either side.
When a concrete base is used, the pad should be 4 to 6 inches thick, and extend 3 inches beyond the steps on the front and either side.
Blue Rock is not responsible for steps settling after installation.
